This year, as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday: a massive, once-in-a-generation Semiquincentennial: the world has descended upon our shores for the FIFA World Cup. From the streets of New York to the small-town RV parks of the Midwest, the energy is electric.
I recently heard a quote from a visiting soccer fan that stopped me in my tracks:
“If you want to hate America listen to the media. But if you want to love America just drive across it.”
It’s simple. It’s profound. And after six years of living this exact reality, I can tell you: He’s 100% right.
The Day We Traded the High Seas for the High Roads
Six years ago, Wade and I were living a very different life in Phoenix. It was 2020. The world was upside down. We had a choice: stay hunkered down in the Arizona heat or find a new way to breathe.
We did what some called "crazy." We let go of the house. We sold all the stuff. We traded our plans for "cruising the high seas" for "cruising the highways." We bought an RV, hit the ignition, and haven't looked back since.
